Formed in 1927 in Richmond, Virginia, The Harmonizing Four emerged during a vibrant period in African-American gospel music. Originally consisting of Thomas Johnson, Lonnie Smith, Levi Hansley, and Joseph "JoJo" Wallace, the group quickly gained recognition for their mesmerizing harmonies and spirited performances.
