Follow on Google News | American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day Sponsored by Kaufman & Kaufman, LLCBy: Kaufman & Kaufman, LLC ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-air event held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June of each year, more than 40,000 ham radios are set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill, and service to the community. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. This has been an annual event since 1933 and remains the most popular event in ham radio to this day! Field Day is a picnic, a campout, practice for emergencies, an informal contest and, most of all, FUN! Attend for an hour or 3 days, it's up to you! This is a kid-friendly event and we encourage you to bring your whole family out for a weekend of outdoor fun. You're responsible for your own camping accommodations, food, and beverages. Setup of camp and stations begin Friday at 3:00p.m. although the actual operation time is from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. There will be a social gathering at 5:30p.m. on Saturday, followed by a potluck dinner at 6:00p.m. For more information visit: www.arrl.org/ Directions: At I-70 Exit 97 head east on the south frontage road, turn right after the Holiday Inn Express.
