ATLANTA - June 5, 2024 - PRLog -- National Vitiligo Awareness has kick started its month long outreach campaign. The Vitiligo Bond Foundation (VBI); which was founded by Natasha Pierre McCarthy, advocates and educates the public about the autoimmune condition vitiligo. McCarthy has vitiligo;  so with her foundation she educates the public about the condition. In 2023, Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) re-introduced legislation to recognize Oct. 17th as "National Vitiligo Awareness Day." Giving validity, resolution, and a voice to the courageous children and adults, who live with the autoimmune condition.  The foundation is based in Atlanta, GA, through its successful advocacy and educational campaigns, several which have gone viral, the message has had international reach. This year  influential entities like the  King and Queen Towers, two major Georgia landmarks will light up in the color purple for the 3rd year in a row to help bring awareness to show  solidarity and support. VBI also advocates for research funding to help find a potential cure along with their sister charity, the American Vitiligo Research Foundation (AVRF).  McCarthy has also launched the Vitiligo Bond Agency for those that want to pursue opportunities in the creative arts like acting, modeling, and public speaking. The goal of the agency is to provide diversity and representation opportunities in the media and advertising Check out the agency here  https://talentsoup.com/agency/vitiligo-bond-agency

About Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a long-term, chronic medical condition that results in loss of pigmentation in patches on the skin, hair, eyes,  and inside of the mouth. It is not contagious. In the United States, around two to five million people are affected by vitiligo. The American Academy of Dermatology refers to vitiligo as a life-altering disorder that can result in low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. This is especially prevalent when children are diagnosed.  Suicide rates amongst bullied children are found to be two to nine times higher for those living with the condition. Millions of men, women, and children suffering from vitiligo need comprehensive medical and mental health support. This resolution not only will be another tool for planting seeds of hope but will positively impact children living with vitiligo. Awareness is the key. Without support vitiligo can damage the human spirit," said Vitiligo Bond CEO Natasha Pierre McCarthy.
