GREEN CREEK TOWNSHIP, N.C. - June 6, 2024 - PRLog -- The Republic of Kenya has recently been granted status as a "Major Non-NATO Ally" of the United States. It is the third African country and the first south of the Sahara to hold the designation.

A summer study tour organized by The AFRICAN CONNECTIONS Research and Education Fund, Inc. (ACREF) in association with The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK), EDU Africa and other partners aims to promote a multifaceted understanding between 'Africa Focused' constituencies on the continent and in the diaspora.

The sixteen (16) day journey will include time at the 2024 Kenya Music Festival, visits to Eldoret, Kisumu Naivasha and Mombasa and tours of facilities addressing East Africa's public health, transportation, energy, media, technology and education needs.

The largest festival of its kind in East and Central Africa, the Kenya Music Festival is an annual talent development initiative overseen by the Ministry of Education. Since 1948, preliminary competitions in music, dance and elocution have been held at the county and regional levels. The 2024 national festival, scheduled from August 3 to 14 in Eldoret, showcases 'the best of the best' and provides a well recognized platform through which positive values are promoted and societal issues addressed.

On Friday, August 23, tour participants will meet with Nairobi based students, community leaders, social activists and business leaders during a one-day Focus on Africa Public Forumâ„¢ held at the Co-operative Retreat and Conference Center on the Co-operative University of Kenya's main campus. The theme of this meeting is: "Where Do We Go From Here?: Africans and Americans in Tryin' Times".

Kenya Airways has joined Qatar Airways in offering specially discounted international airfares to tour participants. The discount code for those selecting Kenya Airways is: AFRCON24

The registration deadline for the ACREF Summer Study Tour is Friday, June 21st.
