"We are plants, we are grass, we are Hackney Marshes": a sensory journey of being landscape

LONDON - June 18, 2024 - PRLog -- Middlesex University is set to host an immersive art installation, "We are plants, we are grass, we are Hackney Marshes," by Hackney-based artist Claire Loussouarn and filmmaker Dominique Rivoal. Running from June 28 to July 5, 2024, at the TV studio in the Grove Building, this installation dissolves boundaries between viewer and environment, offering a deep, personal engagement with Hackney Marshes.

This art installation offers more than a visual or auditory experience; it is a sensory journey designed to merge the audience with the landscape and experience it without filters. Using monthly footage from February 2021 to March 2023, the four screen displays and 3D soundscape take viewers on a journey through the seasons. Each new cycle brings fresh excitement, revealing the gifts of surprises that deepen the relationship between humans and the environment.

Stripping away the romantic gloss often associated with natural landscapes, the installation presents Hackney Marshes in their true form—a raw, unembellished habitat in which the movement of artist Claire Loussouarn becomes an integral part of. This immersive experience aims to provoke thought and foster a deeper understanding of the natural world's intrinsic value, beyond aesthetic idealisations and human biased perspectives.
