DARWIN, Australia - June 19, 2024 - PRLog -- Discover Northern Australia through a musical lens.
Jointly directed by Kristal Margrie and Angelo Raza, Plotting the Northern Stars provides insight into the unifying power of music through interviews with the multicultural band members. The show also delves into the creation process while showcasing the vibrant city of Darwin.

During her journey, Kristal Margrie will meet the band members including American Allen Murphy known for his contribution as the drummer with the world-renowned Village People, famous for the hit song "YMCA"; Japanese percussionist Akio; First Nation's singer Natalie Leysley; Indian tabla drum player Deepak Lal; Australian bass player Tom Jones; Jazz organ player Brendan Hicks; and Jason Dwanbal, a singer and percussionist from Arnhem Land, in addition to the lead singer Angelo.

The production started in December 2022 with the actual Darwin World Mix live concert, which represents a big portion of the visual material of the documentary. The concept was then revised by emerging writer Onil Lad. The project was further enhanced in November 2023, after Angelo Raza, also the producer, met the narrator Kristal Margrie at a NIDA Documentary Training workshop, funded by Screen Territory. Since then, the two creators worked together to bring the show to life, with support from the Director of Photography Sam Croft, the Executive Producer Eunice Reed, and the band members. The production is now in full swing, and the team's ambition is to submit the film to festivals before the end of the year.

From the producer:  "Getting the first recognition for a feature film is the ultimate dream of most filmmakers. Plotting the Northern Stars represents a strategic stepping stone for this team of emerging Territorian talents to pursue their careers in the film industry.

From The Director:  "It's exciting to tell the story of such brilliant musicians from all over the world while discovering the hidden jewels of the Territory: I cannot wait to see the end product!"
