5th Annual Community Barbecue & Back-To-School Picnic Celebrates Children and Families At Texas State Technical College In Waco

WACO, Texas - July 1, 2024 - PRLog -- The Waco Family & Faith International Film Festival presents its 5^th Annual "Community Barbecue & Back-to-School Picnic" on Friday, July 26, 2024, on the campus of Texas State Technical College (TSTC), from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (or, while supplies last). The event is a community celebration that will feature free BBQ, the distribution free backpacks, school supplies, and books, along with great music, and lots of FUN!

"Our annual 'Community Barbecue & Back-to-School Picnic' continues to be a wonderful way for the Waco Family & Faith International Film Festival and the GB Lindsey Family Charitable Fund to serve the community with heart as well as fulfill a need for so many families," states Dr. Tyrha M. Lindsey-Warren, Founder of the Waco Family & Faith International Film Festival. "It continues to be a tremendous joy to work with our event Partners and present such a fun community celebration for our children, neighbors, and families."

According to the United Way, having school supplies are mandatory in an effort for children to achieve academic success. Even in remote learning environments, children need their tools and/or school supplies for effective learning. The GB Lindsey Family Charitable Fund supports this philosophy and that is why it created the 5^th Annual "Community Barbecue & Back-to-School Picnic." The GB Lindsey Family Charitable Fund was created in the memory of elementary school teacher, Mrs. Gloria Lindsey, and since 2020, the organization has distributed over 3,500 backpacks with free school supplies to children and families in Waco, Texas and Cincinnati, Ohio. The Picnic is also the launching pad for the new season of the Waco Family & Faith International Film Festival, which will launch its 6^th annual event on February 20-23, 2025. Film submissions will open on August 15, 2024.

New for the 5^th Annual "Community Barbecue & Back-to-School Picnic" is the distribution of free books by the National Office of Toys for Tots. The children who attend will also have the opportunity to pick a book that they like and will receive free bookmarks from TFNB: Your Bank for Life and EPIC Everyday.

"I love to read and there are so many wonderful benefits you get from reading. We are so excited to have Toys for Tots join us this year with their book distribution program. Hopefully, the children and families who attend will appreciate the gift of reading as well," states Dr. Lindsey-Warren.
