ATLANTA - July 5, 2024 - PRLog -- Affordable luxury lifestyle swimsuit designer Justina McKee was recently announced as one of five McDonald's Change of Fashion mentors for 2024. The 2024 McDonald's Change of Fashion Program is focused on driving change regarding Black representation in fashion. Mckee is partnered with an up- and- rising fashion designer to provide guidance and resources to elevate their imprint.

Mckee is widely known for her bold, versatile, and affordable swimwear and beachwear brand, Matte Collection. Founded in 2017, the brand has become globally recognized with designs complementary to all figures and body types. Gabrielle Union, Megan Good, Angela Simmons, and Saweetie are among the recent celebrity faces of the brand.

Now as a We Are Golden campaign fashion mentor, Justina will work alongside an upcoming designer as they aspire to ascend in the fashion industry.

McDonald's Change of Fashion shares, "The industry frequently pulls inspiration from Black culture, but doesn't always embrace Black creatives. After all, only 7.3% of American fashion designers are Black."

The Black & Positively Golden® initiative pairs five, rising Black designers with five fashion insiders for career-changing guidance and mentorships. The program also provides access and resources, and gives their brands a chance to shine.

McKee's mentee, Freddie Estelle Clothing founder, is a cultural tastemaker from New Orleans. His custom clothing collection was birthed as homage to his uncle who was an inspiration during his upbringing. The Freddie E. collection features vibrant, abstract designs and crochet patterns for men and women. His work has been supported by notable names such as Busta Rhymes and Ciara.

"I am honored and excited to mentor and pour into the next generation of designers through McDonald's Black & Positively Golden® initiative. This is a great journey to invest and provide a spotlight for rising Black designers. I couldn't be prouder of my mentee Freddie E.,as he is already changing fashion for the better!" states Justina.

Justina and Freddie will debut in a panel discussion at the 2024 Essence Festival of Culture on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

The Black & Positively Golden® began May 2024 and will run through 2025. Be on the lookout for these rising brands and follow their journey on Instagram @wearegolden.
