16 Year Old Breaks Into Country Radio Airwaves

July 9, 2024 - PRLog -- Ventura Smalley, a 16-year-old radio host, is making waves in the industry with his new show "Nights with Ventura." The nightly Country love song program airs from 7pm-midnight and is available for syndication. Ventura engages with listeners by taking song requests and offering comments, creating a warm and interactive atmosphere for his audience.

Ventura's passion for radio began at the young age of 13 or 14 when he started at a community radio station, focusing on adult contemporary love songs. By 15, he had landed his first commercial radio gig, hosting a nighttime slot on an old country station. Despite his youth, Ventura has always been dedicated to his dream of being on the radio and connecting with people.

"I've always wanted to be on the radio and talk to people. I love giving advice and helping people with their struggles," Ventura shares. "In my short life so far, I have experienced a lot of things. Most people think 16-year-old kids are playing video games or ditching school; that's not me! I'm blessed that the Lord has allowed me to have a voice on the airwaves. It's a blessing to be able to connect with people."

Inspired by renowned radio personality Delilah, Ventura grew up listening to her soothing love songs and aspired to follow in her footsteps. His dream came true when he had the chance to spend time with Delilah and her family on her ranch in February, getting a behind-the-scenes look at her show. "I had such an amazing time, and I still can't believe I got to have that amazing experience," he recalls.

Ventura's journey has not been without challenges. In his freshman year of high school, a teacher doubted his potential, telling him he would not make it anywhere in life and would never be featured in the local paper. Undeterred, Ventura contacted the local newspaper, which found his story so compelling that they put it on the front page.

Ventura's message to his peers is clear: "I want to show the kids my age that you can achieve the things you want to; never give up because you can do amazing things. I am living proof of this. My proof is that I never gave up, and I never will, thanks to God."

"Nights with Ventura" continues to grow in popularity, and Ventura's dedication and positivity serve as an inspiration to young people seeking to get into the radio industry.
