By: AGRA

July 10, 2024 - PRLog -- Dar es Salaam- The Ministry of Agriculture is gearing up to host a significant multi-stakeholder partner workshop on Thursday, 11th July 2024, at the Serena Hotel. This workshop aims to unite diverse partners to focus on accelerating Tanzania's food systems and climate action initiatives. Key priorities include advancing specific public-private flagship projects ahead of critical global milestones such as the 2024 Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF), the Sustainable Development Impact Summit, and COP 29, all of which will spotlight the crucial intersection of food systems, climate, and environment.

Building on recent momentum from the Africa Climate Summit, COP 28, and the Africa Food Systems Forum 2023, which was held under the theme "Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa's Solutions to Food Systems," this workshop will assess the progress made in initiatives like the Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) program. Launched last year, the BBT initiative aims to engage Tanzanian youth in agribusiness, promoting sustainable livelihoods and economic growth.

The forum will serve as a platform to review the advancements in Tanzania's food system pathways, evaluate their impact, and identify areas for further improvement. Tanzania has strategically shifted its policy to ensure short-term food security while fostering inclusive, sustainable, nutritious, and resilient food systems. This effort also aims to enhance the country's capacity to feed the African continent commercially.

Collaboration between the public and private sectors is emphasized as crucial for accelerating economic growth and transforming the lives of Tanzanian youth and women. The Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to leading transformative initiatives in the food systems sector underscores Tanzania's role at the forefront of agricultural innovation and climate action.

This forum is poised to highlight the Ministry's dedication to driving progress in the agriculture sector, ensuring a sustainable future for Tanzania and its contribution to the broader African context.
