Karnataka Government Private Sector Reservation Bill for Employment Opposed by Cloudesign

Karnataka Government Private Sector Reservation Bill Faces Further Backlash

BANGALORE, India - July 18, 2024 - PRLog -- Technology firm Cloudesign expressed its firm support for NASSCOM's decision to oppose the Karnataka State Employment of Local Industries Factories Establishment Act Bill 2024.

A company spokesperson revealed that despite being a firm believer in contributing to the local community, the firm perceives the move as backward and short-sighted.

"The economic repercussions and cultural repercussions are unpredictable. Recruitment should only be based on merit. If companies move out in search of skilled talent, Karnataka's economy and sectors like industry, real estate, and hospitality will suffer. This bill challenges the cosmopolitan culture of Bengaluru as we know it!" he said.

The bill in question proposes a 70 percent reservation in non-management positions and a 50 percent reservation in management positions to local candidates.

The Karnataka cabinet's passage of the bill has triggered a huge backlash, with industry stalwarts like Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and Mohandas Pai speaking up against it.

Cloudesign (https://www.cloudesign.com/) also expressed its support for NASSCOM (https://nasscom.in/) and opposition to the bill on its official LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/company/cloudesign/) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/cloudesign.technology/) channels.
