SILVER SPRING, Md. - July 23, 2024 - PRLog -- The 2024 Joint Conference is extremely excited to explore the spirit and significance of synodality. This year's conference will be a momentous occasion as it brings together distinguished groups such as the National Black Sisters' Conference (NBSC), National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus (NBCCC), National Association of Black Catholic Deacons (NABCD), and National Black Catholic Seminarian Association (NBCSA). These esteemed organizations will engage in a shared exploration designed to delve deep into the essence of collective discernment and decision-making within their communities.

Synodality, which is the principle of collaborative decision-making and unity, is of great significance to these religious groups as they strive to strengthen their connections, encourage open dialogue, and embrace inclusivity within their respective congregations. The upcoming conference will serve as a forum for contemplation, conversation, and proactive steps toward understanding how synodality can enrich relationships, ignite collective wisdom, and enable communities to address modern-day challenges with empathy and truth.

With the recent and unexpected passing of Father Norman Fischer, President of NBCCC, the conference will honor his legacy. He was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to advancing the mission of the NBCCC and promoting unity among Black clergy members. His contributions, wisdom, and spirit of service will be imprinted throughout the conference. Father Fischer's funeral Mass will be held on July 29th, the first day of the joint Conference.

"We are honored to come together as a community to explore the transformative truth of synodality. Also to honor the memory of Father Norman Fischer, a beloved leader and advocate for unity within our religious organizations," said Father Kareem Smith, Vice President of the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus. "This year's theme underscores the importance of collaboration, dialogue, and solidarity as we navigate the complexities of our world and strive for a more just and welcoming society."

In a special moment of reverence and celebration, Saint Martin de Porres Church will host the Jubilarian Mass on July 30th, commemorating the anniversaries of dedication and service of clergy members and religious leaders within the Black Catholic community. This solemn occasion will be a testament to the commitment, faith, and unwavering devotion of those who have devoted their lives to serving others and spreading the message of love and solidarity.

"We are deeply grateful to the Archdiocese of Louisville and Saint Martin de Porres Church for hosting this year's conference with the spirit of compassion, inclusion, and truth," said Sister Addie Lorraine Walker, President of the National Black Sisters' Conference. "The Jubilarian Mass serves as a guiding light for us as we come together to deepen our understanding of synodality and strengthen our bonds of fellowship and shared purpose."

Participants can look forward to a rich program featuring joint sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities. Organizational leaders will share their insights on how synodality can foster unity, dialogue, and collaboration across diverse perspectives and traditions. Attendees will be able to engage in thought-provoking breakout sessions, exchange best practices, and forge new partnerships with like-minded individuals passionate about harnessing the power and significance of synodality.

The 2024 Joint Conference promises to be a gathering of inspiration, learning, and fellowship, where participants can engage in meaningful conversations, share insights, and strengthen the bonds that unite them in faith and purpose.
