Transforming Mental Health Care in the UAE: Innovative Solutions Empowering Everyday Wellbeing

AHMEDABAD, India - Aug. 1, 2024 - PRLog -- According to Insights10 report, UAE Mental Health Apps Market was valued at $31 Mn in 2023 and is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 16.2% from 2023 to 2030, to $88.68 Mn by 2030.

In a landmark initiative, Snap Inc. and the UAE Digital Wellbeing Council launched the in-app mental health portal "Here for You" on World Mental Health Day. This platform aims to provide proactive support to users facing emotional crises and offers vital resources for understanding mental health issues. The UAE is committed to enhancing mental health support, with smartphone adoption exceeding 96% and a population expected to surpass 10 million by 2030. Approximately 24,000 cases of mental health disorders, including depression and anxiety, exist in the UAE, with an estimated 377,838 visits related to mental health disorders in 2022. To address the shortage of mental health professionals, the UAE is leveraging technology, reflecting a growing acceptance of mental health care. As the nation advances, it is poised to become a leader in mental health innovation, ensuring that every individual has the necessary tools to thrive.

Recently in May 2024, PureHealth, the largest healthcare platform in the Middle East, has announced the launch of Sakina, a dedicated vertical for mental health, in line with the Abu Dhabi's mental health strategy and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi's vision in creating a place where everyone can be at their healthiest, physically and mentally. The initiative aims to empower positive mental health and provide access to holistic mental health care, emphasising PureHealth's dedication to ensuring that individuals live longer, happier, and healthier lives.

The government of the United Arab Emirates has taken a bold stance in addressing the growing need for mental health support by actively promoting the development and adoption of mental health apps. Through a series of strategic initiatives and policies, the UAE is positioning itself as a leader in leveraging technology to provide accessible and effective mental health resources for its residents. One of the most significant steps taken by the government is the Dubai Health Authority's (DHA) plan to make mental health insurance mandatory for all residents. This move ensures that everyone has access to necessary mental health services, including those provided through apps and digital platforms. The DHA's emphasis on mental health support underscores the government's commitment to prioritizing well-being and reducing the barriers to seeking help.
