ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Aug. 5, 2024 - PRLog -- Separating from a partner, especially when children are involved, can be a complex and emotional experience. The Friend of the Court (FOC), a department within the Family Division of the Circuit Court in Michigan, offers valuable resources and support to help families navigate this process.

"We understand the difficulties families face during separation," said Rebecca Harvey, a family law attorney in Ann Arbor at Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, P.C.. "I'm committed to providing a supportive and impartial environment where separating couples can work together to establish fair and workable solutions that prioritize the best interests of their children."

The FOC offers a variety of services to assist separating couples, including:
  • Creating a Roadmap for Shared Parenting: FOC professionals gather information and make recommendations for fair and workable custody and parenting time arrangements.
  • Ensuring Financial Security: The FOC helps enforce court-ordered child support and spousal support payments, providing financial stability for families.
  • Streamlining the Separation Process: FOC professionals can guide parents through the legalities of separation agreements.

The FOC's services are generally free, although there may be additional costs associated with implementing their recommendations.
