Waterford non-profit sending relief effort to victims of Tropical Storm Debby

WATERFORD, Mich. - Aug. 7, 2024 - PRLog -- Waterford, MI – Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW), a Waterford-based non-profit organization, is providing relief services to residents along South Carolina's coast who have been effected by Tropical Storm Debby.

Debby arrived on the Gulf Coast of Florida early Monday, and is expected to produce historic rainfall totals and catastrophic flooding as it sweeps up the east coast through Sunday.

DRAW will be delivering a full trailer load of supplies from their Michigan warehouse to give out to victims in the effected area.

After a disaster hits, DRAW visits the site with supplies that are immediately needed by the disaster victims, then assesses the damage and needs of the survivors to determine if either more supplies or a team to perform any volunteer services is needed.

"[It's about] getting people emergency supplies that they need to help recover, clean up, and take their first steps back towards normalcy" (G. Martin, Executive Director, in response to DRAW's disaster-relief mission).

DRAW responds to an average of 12 natural disasters per year. In response to Tropical Storm Debby, this will be DRAW's 11th response since February (with hurricane season estimated to run well through November).

Disaster Relief at Work is 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on community support through donations and volunteers to provide natural disaster relief. To help DRAW in their latest response, visit drawbuckets.org to find more ways you can help.
