By: 9dot9 Key findings Data Architecture and Technology Strategies Leading Maturity: The survey highlights that 16% of enterprises have reached the proactive or differentiating stage in their data architecture and technology strategies, marking them as fully mature and optimized. An additional 29% are in the managed or systematic stage, while 34% remain in the reactive or opportunistic stage, adapting to immediate needs rather than executing a fully established strategy. Notably, the proportion of enterprises at the proactive maturity level has seen a substantial rise, from 4% in 2023 to 15% in 2024. "The significant increase in the proactive or differentiating stage indicates that some organizations are making substantial advancements and optimizing their data architecture and technology strategies. The survey results also indicate a mixed maturity level in data architecture and technology, with some organizations advancing from the managed stage to the proactive stage, along with new organizations entering the early and reactive stages. However, it is also indicated that some organizations may have regressed to the early and reactive stages," says R.Giridhar, Group Editor and Head of Research at CIO&Leader. Data Engineering and DataOps Close Behind: Data engineering and DataOps strategies are also progressing, with 15% of organizations reaching the proactive stage, up from 6% in 2023. Meanwhile, 30% of enterprises are in the managed stage, with 33% still in reactive stages. Challenges in Data Analytics and Usage Strategies: Despite advancements in data architecture and engineering, only 14% of enterprises have achieved proactive maturity in their data analytics and usage strategies. The largest group, 34%, remains in the early stages, highlighting the ongoing challenges in adopting advanced analytics practices. Critical Challenges in Implementing Robust Analytics Programs: While leadership support remains the top challenge in both 2023 and 2024, there is a slight decrease in the percentage of respondents considering it very important (87% in 2023 to 85% in 2024). Data quality and identifying the right use cases were also highlighted as major challenges. Enterprises Focus on AI to Overcome Data Challenges: Enterprises are increasingly prioritizing AI to address data challenges, with 48% focusing on enhancing data processing strategies and 46% on improving data management processes within the next 12 months.
