OSHKOSH, Wis. - Aug. 20, 2024 - PRLog -- Oshkosh, WI — Jason Moon, a 2006 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh graduate and former Oshkosh resident, will perform a special concert at The Jockey Club (24 E Gruenwald Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54901) on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, from 3 PM to 6 PM. The event, which will feature The Jockey Club's renowned Steak Fry, is a fundraiser in support of Warrior Songs, a nonprofit organization founded by Moon to help U.S. veterans heal through songwriting and the creative arts.

Moon, who spent nearly a decade performing in Oshkosh and the Fox Valley area, was well-known for hosting open mics and supporting emerging musicians. In 2003, while still a student at UWO, he was deployed to Iraq with the Wisconsin National Guard's 724th Combat Engineer Battalion. Upon his return in 2004, Moon faced severe challenges, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. After a suicide attempt in 2008, Moon turned to songwriting as a way to process his experiences and help other veterans.

In 2010, Moon released his groundbreaking album, Trying to Find My Way Home, which chronicles his journey of healing. The album, along with Moon's story, was featured in the award-winning documentary On The Bridge, spreading his message to national and international audiences. The profound impact of his music led to the creation of Warrior Songs, which transforms veterans' stories into songs, offering them a path to healing.

Since its founding, Warrior Songs has released three compilation albums, including the critically acclaimed Women at War: Warrior Songs Vol. 2, which won the 2019 Wisconsin Area Music Industry's Album of the Year award. Over 85,000 copies of Warrior Songs' albums have been distributed free to veterans, and the organization's creative arts retreats have hosted over 85 veterans. Moon's work has been recognized by major media outlets such as CNN, Fox News, Associated Press, and NPR.

Jason Moon, now based in Mesa, AZ, is on a three-week fundraising tour in Wisconsin to support Warrior Songs. His performance at The Jockey Club will feature original songs and stories from his journey, along with covers of influential tracks. The concert, held on the outdoor patio, will be free to attend, with proceeds supporting Warrior Songs' mission. Moon is also celebrating his 50th birthday during the event.  www.warriorsongs.org
