4Kira4Moms Founder Charles Johnson to Speak at 2024 Black Maternal Health Caucus Stakeholder Summit

WASHINGTON - Aug. 21, 2024 - PRLog -- Renowned Black maternal health advocate Charles Johnson has been announced as a speaker for the 2024 Black Maternal Health Caucus (BMHC) Stakeholder Summit, hosted by Representatives Lauren Underwood (IL-14) and Alma Adams (NC-12) alongside the congressional Black Maternal Health Caucus. The event, taking place on Monday, August 26, 2024, will center on advancing the Momnibus Act and addressing the ongoing maternal health crisis through a day of insightful discussions, networking, and collaboration.

As the founder of 4Kira4Moms, Charles Johnson has become a global voice in the fight against maternal mortality, inspired by the tragic loss of his wife, Kira, during the birth of their second son. Through his advocacy, Johnson has been instrumental in pushing for key maternal health legislation and expanding postpartum Medicaid coverage. His organization, 4Kira4Moms, has significantly improved maternal health outcomes for Black women and their families across the nation. At the BMHC Summit, Johnson will share his personal story and provide actionable insights on how to combat this urgent crisis.

Johnson will join other notable leaders, including Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; Carole Johnson, Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration; actress and maternal health advocate Tatyana Ali, Founder of Baby Yams; as well as BMHC Co-Founders and Co-Chairs, Representatives Lauren Underwood and Alma Adams.

The Summit, now in its 4th year, will focus on federal progress in improving maternal health, providing training on accessing federal funding secured by the Caucus, and highlighting opportunities to advance the Momnibus Act and other key legislative priorities. Attendees will have the chance to build partnerships, develop strategies, and access a resource fair offering information on local services.
