Peonies & Prose Announces Inaugural Poetry Contest: Threads of Connection

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Aug. 24, 2024 - PRLog -- Peonies & Prose, the literary venture founded by author Sandi Duverneuil, is proud to announce its inaugural poetry contest, Threads of Connection. This unique contest invites poets from around the world to explore and reflect on the theme of connection in its broadest sense—whether through human relationships, the natural world, or the bond between humans and animals.

Threads of Connection seeks to highlight the power of connection, empathy, and support in the healing process. Poets are encouraged to interpret the theme in ways that resonate most deeply with them, allowing for a wide range of creative expression. The contest is open to poets of all levels, from emerging voices to seasoned wordsmiths.

The submission deadline is October 2, 2024, a date that holds special significance for Peonies & Prose's founder, Sandi Duverneuil. This day marks what would have been her mother's 80th birthday (Betsy Meyer). Duverneuil, who lost her mother in 2023 after a valiant four-year battle with an aggressive cancer, chose this date to honor the memory of a woman who deeply influenced her life and work.

"The last time I saw my mom, just a few weeks before she passed, she encouraged me to start writing," Duverneuil reflects. "Honoring that promise, I published my first poetry collection, Dragonfly Dances: Poetic Musings on Life. This contest is a continuation of that journey, inspired by the connections that heal and the threads that bind us all."

Threads of Connection also pays homage to Duverneuil's mother's work as a fiber artist, a craft that symbolizes the interweaving of lives and experiences. Through this contest, Peonies & Prose aims to celebrate the artistry in words and the healing power of shared stories.

Submissions will be accepted until October 2, 2024. Selected winners will receive prizes and have their work featured in an upcoming anthology by Peonies & Prose.
