Listening Room Museum Foundation October 17 from 7:00pm to 12:00am is the Pre-party at Henry Turner Jr.'s Listening Room with performances by Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, the Listening Room All-Stars and special guests Leslie Blackshear Smith and Ms. Pressure. Admission is $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door and includes a Southern buffet. Cash bar. A Taste of the Deep South, on October 19 and 20 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm, is free to the public. It features two stages, a Vendor Village and a food court with festival food favorites. The Galvez Plaza stage opens on Saturday, October 19 with The Juke Joint Juniors, the West Baton Rouge Museum's Blues After School Band, followed by Contemporary Christian singer Xavie Shorts. Pastor Leon Hitchens takes the stage at 2:00pm and the Phoenix Rouge Belly Dancing Troupe goes on at 2:45pm. Eilene Rockette takes a turn with some gospel/jazz and rapper Krazy D is on at 4:15pm followed by Princess Teha with an African/World Beat set. Southern Soul singer Wyanda Paul takes the stage right before Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor at 6:15pm. The first day of the festival closes out with the dance band LA Groove. Sunday, October 20 opens with Southern Soul singer Ms. Pressure, who is new to the festival, followed by Listening Room All-Stars King Solomon, comedian Eddie "Cool" Deemer and Kelton 'Nspire Harper from 1:00 to 2:20pm. Another new performer is Southern Soul singer Kenalliya, who is followed by Katrina at 2:45pm. Ervin "Maestro" Foster brings his smooth jazz set and another new performer Tawanna Louis joins the festival with more Southern Soul renditions. Rounding out the festival is Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor beginning at 4:30, followed by pop/funk singer songwriter Kevin White and blues greats and returning festival favorites SmokeHouse Porter and Miss Mamie. Closing out the festival is the soul/pop duo Jelly B & Wolfe. Hosts are Gisele Haralson, Arielle Butler and David Randall. (Exact stage schedule below.) The Town Lawn stage features buskers who can sign up on the website or at the event. Special VIP tickets are available and cost between $25.00 and $100.00.
