Quidax Speaks on Nigeria's Cryptocurrency Future at BusinessDay Blockchain Conference

LAGOS, Nigeria - Sept. 27, 2024 - PRLog -- African founded cryptocurrency exchange, Quidax recently, shared its vision for the future of blockchain technology at the BusinessDay Blockchain Conference held last week in Lagos, Nigeria. The event brought together industry leaders and innovators from across the country to discuss real-world applications of blockchain beyond cryptocurrency.

Present at the event was the Director General of the Securities Exchange Commision (SEC), Emonotimi Agama. He spoke about the government's change in stance on digital products and disclosed that in recent times, 50 cryptocurrency exchanges have applied for operational licenses. This license was also recently granted to Quidax. Emonotimi also emphasized on the government's commitment to supporting digital asset companies, as key economic drivers in the country.

Quidax CEO, Buchi Okoro, and Director of Global Partnerships, Ezichim Onweagba, took the stage to share their insights on several key topics driving the blockchain industry and the work Quidax is doing across the continent.

Okoro and Onweagba acknowledged that the recent provisional licensing of crypto exchanges by the SEC is a huge step forward for the industry, creating a framework for more innovation. This single move by the government would drive more adoption of digital assets and boost the confidence and trust of individuals and businesses considering digital assets.

During a fireside chat at the event, the Quidax CEO said "At Quidax, we aim to make buying and selling crypto as easy as sending a text message," said Buchi Okoro. "We are positioned to help individuals and institutions leverage cryptocurrency for their (personal) financial and business growth."

Other key stakeholders at the event included Obinna Iwuno (President, Stakeholders in Blockchain Technology Association of Nigeria-SIBAN), Oluseyi Akindeinde (Founder, Hyperspace) and Onwuka Peace Lucy (Head of Division-Emerging Technologies & Innovation, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit) representing the CEO, Hafsat Abubakar Bakari.

Also in attendance were Deborah Ojengbede (CEO, AFEN Blockchain Network), Nathaniel Luz (CEO, Flinap), Abiodun Attah (Executive Director, Satellite Technology) representing Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen (CEO, Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited), Fure Eviosekwofa (CEO, Furex Technologies) and Dr. Ayodele Bakare (Head of Digital Transformation, National Information Technology Agency-NITDA) representing the CEO, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
