Today, Koenig is a successful IT training company with a global clientele. But it wasn't always this way. In November 1993, Koenig started as a small training center in a congested area of Delhi—Patel Nagar. The Indian IT training industry was very competitive, and Koenig struggled to survive. There were moments of success, but they were rare and short-lived.

"It was a challenge to pay the monthly salary bill, and we could only survive because of financial support from my father," recalls Rohit Aggarwal, Founder & CEO. Simply put, Koenig was a loss-making enterprise.

The dotcom boom, followed by the bust in 2000, wiped out many IT companies. Koenig could have faced the same fate, but rapid "downsizing" and an "idea" changed everything.

"When we were aggressively downsizing, I noticed that almost every class had 1-2 students from the UK. We thought if we offered a training package that included hotel stays, it would be more convenient for European students. We did the math, and it seemed like a win-win for both Koenig and our European customers," says Rohit Aggarwal.

Business grew exponentially. Based on customer feedback, Koenig opened centers in scenic locations like Shimla, Goa, and Dubai. But success requires constant adaptation.

The duration of courses reduced from three weeks to one week. This cut down the economic advantage of traveling to India from the UK. Fortunately, a new market emerged. IT professionals from the Middle East and Africa, who used to travel to Europe for training, started choosing Koenig India.

Until 2020, Koenig's growth was steady, except for a hiccup during the oil crisis in 2016. After COVID, offshore training evolved into Destination Training, with students preferring not only India but also Dubai, London, Singapore, and New York for their courses.
