Taking place as the first of two events in a special series, this workshop will dive into how understanding and manipulating positive and negative space can drastically enhance an artist's ability to create dynamic, visually captivating artwork and designs. The event will be interactive, offering attendees not only insights into the practice but also hands-on drawing exercises to begin training the eyes to see figures and shapes in more contextual ways. "Mastering positive and negative space allows illustrators, artists, and Creatives to improve their rendering of figures, objects, and shapes in a way that feels more intentional and balanced," shares Mayra Yadir, an Illustration MFA graduate who's been teaching a range of mixed media and digital design topics since 2023. Participants of this virtual workshop will gain essential skills in recognizing and establishing spatial relationships to achieve greater clarity and balance in their illustration art.
