Follow on Google News | Scots' Church Celebrates 150 Years of Architectural and Spiritual LegacyAmid a strong post-Covid resurgence in Sunday attendance, Melbourne's Scots' Church will mark an extraordinary milestone as its historic building celebrates 150 years standing at the corner of Collins and Russell streets.
"Scots' is full of history and full of life and we want to invite everyone in the community to join us as we honour that legacy and look forward to the future." To mark this milestone, Scots' Church will host a series of events that invite the broader community to join in the celebration: Giant Free City Sausage Sizzle: On Wednesday 30 October, Scots' Church will stage a free sausage sizzle Heritage Exhibition: During November, visitors can explore a historical display showcasing the journey of Scots' Church, featuring 12 large panels of photos, memorabilia and original building plans in the Westpac building foyer (adjacent to the church on Russell Street). Anniversary Thanksgiving Service: The official anniversary will be celebrated on Sunday, 25 November at 11am with a Thanksgiving Service, followed by a light lunch. At 2pm, Scots' Church will host its second annual Scots' Proms Concert. Giving Back to the City: To mark the Anniversary, the Scots' Church Minor Trusts have donated $20,000 to the Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG), which assists older people facing homelessness. Lighting Up the Future: As part of the celebration, Scots' Church will unveil new coloured floodlights illuminating the building's iconic Collins Street frontage. The lights will be switched on during the evening of Thursday, 7 November, adding a new layer of beauty to this cherished landmark.
