Oklahoma Classics Night is a huge event

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oct. 18, 2024 - PRLog -- Bryan Hawk had a Dream! What do you call a man with a dream? A dream of making his stallion, Code West, the finest stallion in the state of Oklahoma. A dream of making his, WestWin Farms, the finest Thoroughbred farm in Oklahoma. Well, about 5 years ago, backside rumors and other opinionated horsemen, probably thought Mr. Hawk was shooting for the stars. Well, he was, but the irony is he is pulling them out of the sky, one by one. Here it is in 2024 and Bryan Hawk will be represented on Oklahoma Classics Night with 7 runners he owns and 8 runners that he bred. There is even one horse, sired by a stallion who resides at WestWin Farms named, Tank Commander. The offspring is named Slades Tank.

As for Bryan Hawk, his trainer Joe Offolter will be sending out, Da Candy Cane (DaStoops-Cajun Candy) in the 1st race, a race for Oklahoma Bred fillies & mares, written as a starter allowance. Da Candy Cane is bred by Nona Buley, whose farm took a loss during a tornado. Bryan offered to take some of the horses off her hands, thus acquiring Cajun Candy (Candy Ride). As a breeder, Bryan is represented in the 3rd race, The Oklahoma Classic Lassie, by La Camelia, who is trained by Steve Martin. La Camelia is by Code West out of the Pollard's Vision mare, Aurie.

Now to the 4th race, the Oklahoma Classic Juvenile and the Bryan Hawk owned and bred colt named Mister Omaha (Omaha Beach - Cosmic Code) is owned and bred by Bryan and trained by Joe Offolter. Mister Omaha will be ridden by Luis S. Quinonez, who has ridden the colt in both starts. Cajun Stoops, a full brother to Da Candy Cane, will also be in the Juvenile for Hawk. Cajun Stoops is also trained by Offolter and will be ridden by Jose Alvarez this out. One of the co-favorites is Ship The Money, a colt by Code West out of Ship Her. He was bred by Bryan Hawk and sold at the Texas Thoroughbred Yearling Sale for a bargain price of $1,000.00. Ship the Money will be ridden by Floyd Wethey, Jr and saddled by Jayde Gelner. Finally, for the Juvenile, a horse named, Big Kitty (Code West - Track That Cat) was also bred by Bryan Hawk. He ran a solid second in his first start at Canterbury Downs against open company. His next out with his own kind (Ok Breds) He put his head in front of Mister Omaha in that race. Big Kitty is trained by Vic Hanson. Finally, in the Juvenile, a young colt named Slades Tank owned by Dream Walkin Farms, Inc, will round out the 12 horse field. Slades Tank is by Tank Commander, who took up residency at WestWin Farms. Tank Commander is a royally bred son of War Front that raced for the late beloved, Toby Covel (Keith).

Let's move to the turf for the 5th race, The Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf. The team of Bryan Hawk and trainer Juan Padilla will be sending out C W Charm (Code West - Mystical Charm). The three-year-old filly broke her maiden at Remington Park in an open maiden race, not restricted to Ok Breds. C W Charm came back in an allowance race, this time with her best friends, Oklahoma Breds, and won that convincingly under Luis Quinonez, her regular rider. She ran back in 15 days in a state bred stake on the turf and was defeated by Douwannadance. This will be her second out in stake company.

Bryan Hawk had a Dream! One of the foundation mares Bryan purchased at The November Sale at Keeneland in 2018, was Southern Equity. When he purchased the mare, she was in foal to Munnings and the result was, Take Me Serious. Going into Friday, Take Me Serious has 14 starts, 5 wins, 4 seconds and 3 thirds with earnings of $178,262. Take Me Serious will be competing in the Oklahoma Classic Distaff Sprint, Race 6, on Friday night. Take Me Serious will take on some rivals she previously came across at Remington Park. Kachina and Nice Neighbor are two she will have to face again. Take Me Serious is also trained by Joe Offolter and will have Richard Eramia aboard. Take Me Serious was foaled at Red Earth Farm, before purchasing WestWin Farm under the care of Bernadean Sheets-Ryan. Bernadean "Bernie" breaks all of the Bryan Hawk young horses at Red Earth Training Center in Goldsby, OK.

In Race 7, the Oklahoma Classic Distaff, last year's "Horse of the Meet" at Remington Park, Miss Code West, will be heading a 6 horse field. Miss Code West was purchased as a yearling in the Texas Thoroughbred Yearling Sale at Lone Star Park for the price of $12,000, by Jeffry and Julie Puryear. Kevin Scholl, a long time horseman around the Oklahoma area, was trusted with the filly and has done a stellar job with her. Bryan Hawk purchased Inca Miss with the intention to breed her to Code West. He first bred her to Munnings, but that would be getting ahead of the story. Miss Code West's record is impressive to say the least. She has 10 starts with 7 wins 1 second and 0 thirds, but has a juicy bankroll of $294,334. Talk about a return on investment!

On to Race 8, the 6 furlongs Oklahoma Classic Sprint, Mr Hawk will be sending out Breakable Code. Breakable Code is lightly raced, only just breaking his maiden in May at Will Rogers Downs. The gelding won two more races after that and placed in an OK Bred stake on the turf. Trained by Joe Offolter, Breakable Code will be ridden by regular rider Richard Eramia.

On to the race of the evening, The Oklahoma Classic Cup. The 1 1/16 miles race will feature some talented OK Breds! There is a shipper from the famed, Calumet Farm named Winters Lion, who is trained by Joe Sharp. Bryan Hawk has two horses he bred and one that he owns in the feature race. C W Prize, who has amazing heart when against his own kind, has won 1/2 of his starts since breaking his maiden on August 26, 2023. C W Prize really seems to love Remington Park and Richard Eramia has ridden him 6 times, winning 5 of those races. Trainer Joe Offolter will be saddling C W Prize. Finally, bred by Bryan Hawk is Inca Empire. The gelding by Midshipman is a hard knocker winning 7 races out of 27 starts. He was claimed at Prairie Meadows by Oscar Flores and owner Danny Caldwell. The son of Inca Miss has $136,609 in earnings.

So, for those of you that have a dream, don't give up. Bryan Hawk never gave up and it has paid off in dividends and in lots of great memories. Remember the win pictures always last longer than the purse money!
