CHICAGO - Oct. 21, 2024 - PRLog -- The 13th International Ramayana Dance Drama in celebration of 25th Anniversary of the International Ramayana Institute of North America (IRINA) will be presented Sunday, November 3, 2024 at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, 9501 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, Illinois from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Approximately 200 dancers will be featured.(Opening ceremony 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.) will showcase a vibrant diverse style of Ramayana dance performed in Indonesia, India, and Thailand. Cambodia and Laos dancers will also participate.

International Ramayana Institute of North America presents the show, in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia-Chicago, Consulate General of India-Chicago, and Royal Thai Consulate General-Chicago and is supported by: Indonesian Diaspora Network-Midwest, USA (IDN-Midwest, USA), Indonesian Trade Promotion Center-Chicago (ITPC-Chicago), Indian Dance School by Gauri Jog, Indonesian Performing Arts of Chicago (iPAC), Indonesian Students Association (PERMIAS-Chicago), The Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute (TCFAI), National Cambodian Heritage Museum, and Multicultural Education Group (Laotian).

The Indian, Indonesian, and Thai communities in Chicago rotate as host every two years. This year, the Indonesian community will host the 13th International Ramayana Dance Drama in celebration of 25th Anniversary of the International Ramayana Institute of North America, under the leadership of IRINA President Martino Tangkar. The objective of IRINA is to facilitate and promote the exchange of literary, artistic and cultural aspects of Ramayana among different countries of the world.

Ramayana has proven to be a successful model that unites communities of different languages, cultures and religions. This model has the potential to bring about unity and harmony among different communities worldwide. Ramayana promotes good human values, has acceptability and a proven track record among Moslems, Buddhists and Hindus, who have accepted its message voluntarily. Ramayana, originally an Indian scripture, has fascinated and inspired poets, writers, sculptors, painters, musicians, dancers, puppeteers and singers in several countries worldwide. Ramayana applies its moral and ethical values to everyday life. Ramayana is part of the educational curriculum in schools and universities in Western and other countries worldwide.

Several high schools' English literature courses also feature Ramayana. Universities and other institutions have held Ramayana-related literary conferences as well. Some Ramayana countries are Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Surinam, Thailand, Trinidad Tobago and Vietnam.
