GENTING LANE, Singapore - Oct. 22, 2024 - PRLog -- The motion plastics specialist igus is expanding their drive technology range with new toothed belt axes: the compact, robust and lubrication-free drylin ZLX high-performance series. The anodised aluminium profile of the axes has been developed in a completely new geometric design. As a result, drylin ZLX not only looks like a mechanical engineering profile, but can also be quickly and easily integrated into a modular profile system. With a load capacity of 150N and speeds of up to 3m/s, the new toothed belt axis is suitable for automated production lines, pick-and-place systems and 3D printers, among others.

The drylin ZLX from igus features a new design with a linear guide system from the drylin W series, size 16, integrated into a robust, corrosion-resistant profile. Unlike other igus axes, the toothed belt runs inside the profile, giving it a sleek look and technical advantages. It meets standard dimensions and grooves, making it easy to combine with standard mechanical engineering profiles. This modular system is ideal for linear robot structures. The design also allows for quick belt tension adjustments directly on the carriage without dismantling components, simplifying assembly and reducing time.

Quiet, lubrication-free, robust
The drylin ZLX is a quiet and robust toothed belt axis that operates without lubricant, using a "sliding instead of rolling" principle. Its design allows for the use of lighter materials like plastic and aluminum, making it quieter and more efficient. The carriage uses tribopolymer iglidur J200 for long-lasting performance, and integrated solid lubricants enable maintenance-free operation. The guide system's optimized dimensions and larger deflection radii enhance wear resistance and load capacity. Suitable for loads up to 150N and a stroke length of 3,500mm, it can achieve up to 20,000km of maintenance-free operation

Ready for connection with gearbox and electric motor
The new toothed belt axis from igus is versatile, working with various linear robot structures or on its own. It features multiple grooves for attaching accessories like sensor mounts. It comes ready for installation with electric motors, offering stepper, EC/BLDC, or DC motor options, all compatible with the D1 universal control system or other cost-effective drives. The flexible design allows for the attachment of motors from other manufacturers. The drylin ZLX boasts a precise motor connection and adaptable drive options, making it suitable for applications like automated production lines, pick-and-place systems, and 3D printers.
