Follow on Google News | Hufstetler Receives 'Champion of Georgia's Cities' AwardDuring the 2023 and 2024 legislative sessions of the General Assembly, Sen. Hufstetler, as Senate Finance Chairman, oversaw much of the revenue and taxation legislation affecting cities. Sen. Hufstetler consistently considered the municipal impact of legislation and worked to address needs and concerns of cities through the legislative process. In particular, GMA is appreciative of Sen. Hufstetler's guidance in crafting and improving House Bill 581, which institutes significant changes to property and sales tax but preserved local decision-making authority. "We are very appreciative of the guidance and consideration that Chairman Hufstetler brings to the work of the General Assembly," said GMA CEO & Executive Director Larry Hanson. "All Georgia cities and all Georgians are the beneficiaries of Chairman Hufstetler's hard work, and he is very deserving of this recognition." Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to its 536 member cities.
