NJ YMCA State Alliance Gallops to Second Place Finish in Meadowlands Breeders Crown Charity ChallengeBy: New Jersey YMCA State Alliance "The New Jersey YMCA State Alliance is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to participate in the charity challenge. This generous donation will help us to continue our vital work in drowning prevention, youth empowerment and overall community health," said the Alliance Chief Executive Officer Julie Gallanty. "Our thanks to Meadowlands Racetrack, the event sponsors, and all of our YMCA team members and supporters for cheering us on," Gallanty added. The charity challenge raised over $495,000 this year alone and nearly $2 million since its inception in 2019, bringing together charities from across the region in a friendly competition to generate support for their causes. Representing Team Miller, the Alliance partnered with Meadowlands Racetrack to spotlight the charity challenge and encouraged YMCA supporters statewide to cast their votes for the Alliance on the racetrack's website. Additionally, each of the four competing teams accumulated points for their respective charities during select horse races and challenges held between Aug. 30 and Oct. 19. The charities gathered at Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford on Oct. 26 for the awards presentation. Finishing in first place was SBH Health System, a hospital in the Bronx, New York, winning $138,200. The other charities were enCourage Kids Foundation, New York, and Friends of Union County in New Jersey.
