GPAINNOVA introduces GPASPACE, a spinoff specializing in the aerospace sector

BARCELONA, Spain - Nov. 7, 2024 - PRLog -- The GPAINNOVA (http://www.gpainnova.com/) business group has officially entered the aerospace industry with the launch of its spinoff, GPASPACE. The new company was unveiled at the recent International Astronautical Congress (IAC) held in Milan from October 14th to 18th, supported by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia (IEEC).

Boosting satellite production

The creation of GPASPACE reflects a commitment to advancing satellite manufacturing in Catalonia through partnerships with industry leaders and fostering public-private collaboration. "Two key factors have driven our entry into the aerospace sector: the expansion of the NewSpace strategy at both local and global levels, and the growth of our engineering and manufacturing capabilities across various business lines," explains Arnau Prat, director of GPASPACE.

Pau Sarsanedas, co-founder and CEO of GPAINNOVA, calls the company's move into aerospace "a critical strategic step for the group's growth and an opportunity to contribute to one of the world's most advanced, innovative industries." Sarsanedas emphasizes that aerospace "demands high-precision, reliable, and efficient technologies—exactly what GPAINNOVA is equipped to deliver."

Among industry leaders

At IAC 2024, GPASPACE members Prat and Pau Simarro represented their organization at the NewSpace Catalonia stand, an initiative led by the Generalitat de Catalunya with support from the IEEC. Their goal was to highlight Catalonia's dynamic technological ecosystem and its capacity for innovation and talent generation.

GPASPACE joined sixteen other top aerospace organizations at the stand, including Ase Optics Europe, ATMake, Augusta Abogados, isardSAT, Kreios Space, Osmium, Pangea Aerospace, Sateliot, Satellogic SLIMOp Space, SPASCAT Technologies, Systellar Space, YPlasma, Open Cosmos, Leaf Space and Compoxi, each showcasing their specialized products and services. GPASPACE focused on its expertise in advanced metal surface finishing.

An institutional delegation, led by Maria Galindo Garcia-Delgado, Secretary of Digital Policies-ICT Catalonia from the Generalitat's Department of Business and Employment, and Ignasi Ribas, director of the IEEC, visited the participating companies, demonstrating government interest in the sector.

During the event, GPASPACE director Prat signed a non-binding agreement with other ESA-backed companies, facilitated by the IEEC, to promote sustainable and responsible practices in the space industry.

Taking advantage of GPAINNOVA's know-how

With the launch of GPASPACE, GPAINNOVA underscores its commitment to the aerospace sector, building on recent investments to establish a dedicated lab for the end-to-end manufacturing of nanosatellites and related components for NewSpace industry partners.

This spinoff leverages GPAINNOVA's proven track record of successfully launching specialized ventures, as seen with SEABOTS, focused on marine robotics, and GPAMEDICAL, dedicated to medical devices. Drawing on its expertise in advanced machinery, engineering, and power electronics, GPAINNOVA is reaffirming its role as a launchpad for innovative companies seeking growth and technical support in high-tech fields.
