EASTON, Md. - Nov. 12, 2024 - PRLog -- Last Thursday, The Arc Central Chesapeake Region hosted nearly 200 prominent leaders and supporters from throughout the community to celebrate the completion of Port Street Commons in Easton, Maryland. Port Street Commons is a 24,000-square-foot space that includes offices, community spaces, and affordable housing designed to support a diverse range of needs in the community. This development is The Arc's most recent capital project, and the cornerstone of The Arc's innovative community development work throughout the region.

"With projects like Port Street Commons, we are building a future where inclusion is the norm, housing and services coexist, and everyone has the opportunities they deserve to live the lives they choose for themselves." said Jonathon Rondeau, President & CEO of The Arc. "I am proud to say that Port Street Commons is a major step toward that future. It is the infrastructure we need to support more people."

Thursday's Ribbon Cutting was filled with optimism as speakers highlighted how Port Street Commons will enhance accessibility, equity, and opportunity in the community. In addition to Rondeau, speakers included Megan Cook, Mayor of Easton; Pete Lesher, Talbot County Council Vice President; Julia Glanz, Deputy Secretary, Department of Housing & Community Development; and Carol Beatty, Secretary, Maryland Department of Disabilities Secretary. Each speaker highlighted the collaborative spirit that made Port Street Commons a reality, emphasizing the importance of partnerships across county, state, and federal levels to meet the needs of Maryland's communities.

Following the program, attendees toured the new facility, experiencing firsthand how the thoughtfully designed spaces will support the community's economic, social, and health needs. The tour included both The Arc at Port Street, the new Eastern Shore headquarters for The Arc, and The Residences at Port Street, featuring nine affordable rental units designed to provide affordable housing for local families.

Port Street Commons will officially open its doors for services in December, with the first tenants moving in on December 2. For more information about Port Street Commons, visit https://ccdmaryland.org/current-developments/port-street-...
