NEW YORK - Nov. 18, 2024 - PRLog -- The Editorial Freelancers Association is thrilled to announce that Autumn A. Arnett has joined the organization as our new executive director. The EFA Board of Directors looks forward to partnering with her to complete the implementation of our 2022–2025 Strategic Plan and to define the direction of the organization's growth and impact in the community.

"Autumn stood out as an exceptional candidate in a field of strong candidates, and we are thrilled that she has joined the EFA as its first executive director," said EFA co-chair Cody Sisco. "With her strategic leadership and commitment to equity, we have high hopes that she will help lead the EFA far into the future."

Autumn comes to the EFA from The Brilliance, Excellence & Equity Project, where she was executive director, launching national programs and an annual conference as well as overseeing a professional development initiative to fortify the teaching force. She also managed teams of freelance writers, photographers, and designers as a communications executive at the Texas Public Charter Schools Association and at Concerned Black Men of America and as a publications editor at Women in Higher Ed (Wiley Publishing), Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, U.S. News & World Report, and Education Dive.

"I am honored for the opportunity to lead this tremendous organization in this exciting period of growth," Ms. Arnett said. "My approach to communications and leadership centers the needs and voices of the community while elevating those who have traditionally been left out, and I am dedicated to bringing this same approach to my support of freelancers in their professional development and advocacy."

Autumn brings to the EFA notable nonprofit leadership experience, editorial expertise, and a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging. The Board and staff are so excited to have her on the team.

We also would like to thank Kerri Strauss for serving as interim executive director for the past year and a half and wish her all the best in her next chapter.

Founded in 1970, the Editorial Freelancers Association is a national nonprofit professional organization with approximately 3,000 members, including writers, editors, copy editors, proofreaders, indexers, translators, and others who work in publishing, communications, and related fields.
