NEW YORK - Nov. 21, 2024 - PRLog -- For some thirty years Joaquín Rández Ramos worked in the pharmaceutical industry, managing commercial teams, but a chance accident kept him immobilized for months. That was the origin of his mind to fly and start thinking divergently, which led to a radical change in his life and the writing of this book. His challenge is probably enormous, but as Martin Heidegger said, in his work What does it mean to think?, what is most worth thinking about in our troubled times is the fact that we do not think. Perhaps, this boldness to reflect from knowledge is what makes this work singular.

"Meaning and Purpose of your Life."
The work is a journey against the tide of the dominant thinking on the aspects that should matter most to us: the meaning and purpose of existence, the value of emotions, the search for happiness, living with pain and the transience of life. Today, all of these have been marginalized in the face of technology's glittering empire; however, it is from people's perception of the meaning of their existence that the most tasty and appetizing qualities of a fulfilling life emanate.

In these meta-postmodern times, we live at high speed, project ourselves into the future and elude our only reality: the present. That means we barely think, let alone savor life. Fast-paced minds do not harmonize with the enjoyment of small details. Understanding our existence should lead us to safeguard the purely human values that come from our emotional and cognitive capacities. More than 90% of the existence of Homo sapiens has taken place in the African savannah, in perfect adaptation to the environment. This adaptive capacity has been progressively lost and, since the industrial revolution, humanity has undergone the fastest and most drastic changes in its lifestyle. However, we are haunted by the curse of the Paleolithic, which anthropologist Edward O. Wilson summarizes in one sentence: "We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions and the technology of gods".

The proposal of this book is to reflect on all these aspects, but from the basis of knowledge, science, philosophy and psychology. The author is aware that proposing to think is not very attractive in these times. However, he is confident that it can work because who has not ever wondered about the meaning and purpose of his life? A question that has always intrigued mankind and has been a source of anguish and despair.
