New Executive Director at 97.9 Valley FMPartners with Okanagan Humane Society and Forever Home Sanctuary for a Triple Charity Auction
By: Benefit Auctions Bielby has been involved in commercial auctions and fundraising for 20 years. He founded Benefit Auctions, a Vernon social enterprise that helps non-profits raise funds. His fundraising experience will support Valley FM's transition from an internet-only station, streaming 24/7 at valleyfm.ca, to a full-fledged, terrestrial radio station. He takes the ED baton from Marv Machura, who made significant strides during his tenure as ED, including acquiring a new, 600-watt radio transmitter in September. Machura says, "I am happy that Paul Bielby has accepted the role of ED and I look forward to continuing to support the radio station as a volunteer, and radio show host with my show Four Strong Winds." Bielby states, "I am excited to step into this role at Valley FM and continue the great work done by Marv, the Board of Directors, and technician Matt Schafer. I am also delighted to be working with some very talented broadcasting stars, and local business luminaries on our Board, as well as some key supporters like MP Ken Hardie. We are also thrilled to now partner with two great charities, the Okanagan Humane Society, and Forever Home Sanctuary, for a Triple Charity Auction hosted online at benefitauction.ca. The funds raised for Valley FM from this online auction will contribute to the monitoring equipment required to pass the final inspection by the CRTC. The funds raised for the OHS will help them continue to fill the gap left by the closure of the Vernon SPCA. The third charity to benefit will be Forever Home Sanctuary, a local rescue and sanctuary dedicated to farm animals that was founded by Angie Ioakimidou, and partner Ron Hopkins. FHS was recognized in October with the Non-Profit Excellence Award at Vernon's Annual Business Excellence Awards. Community members and businesses in Kelowna and Vernon area are encouraged to donate auction items. Used items in good condition are also welcome. The online bidding will start on Dec.1 and conclude on Dec.15. To donate an item you can email paul@benefitauction.ca, or call 250-864-6257. End
