Christ's Church at Moore Square Celebrates 3 Years of Serving Raleigh's Homeless Community

RALEIGH, N.C. - Nov. 27, 2024 - PRLog -- Christ's Church at Moore Square invites believers in Jesus to celebrate its third anniversary, on December 1, 2024.

In November 2021, the ministry began with a simple mission: to share Christ's love through acts of service and the word of God. The church plant began with a promise to deliver leftover lunches from NRUMC's 50th Anniversary Celebration to those in need. This mission soon evolved into a weekly outreach, bringing food, clothing, and hope found in Jesus to the Moore Square community.

Since that first day, Christ's Church at Moore Square has provided:
* Over 6,000 meals to individuals in need
* Hundreds of coats, shoes, socks, blankets, and other living essentials
* Temporary shelter through nights in motels
*Support for families to reunite via bus and train fares
* Assistance with housing needs, including helping one mother and her four children secure permanent housing

Beyond material support, the church has been a spiritual anchor in the park, offering prayer, baptizing individuals, and sharing the Good News of Jesus.

"This is the kind of 'fasting' the Lord calls us to," said a church leader, referencing Isaiah 58. "To set the oppressed free, share food with the hungry, shelter the poor, clothe the naked, and care for one another. When we do this, we see the Lord's promises fulfilled: healing, guidance, and strength."

As the church reflects on three years of service, it remains committed to working outside the walls of a church building. By taking Jesus to those who may not otherwise step into a church, Christ's Church seeks to meet the needs of individuals where they live, sleep, and gather. All believers in Jesus are invited to join in celebrating this milestone.
