Follow on Google News | Introducing Kasbah d'Eau: Morocco's New Boutique HotelBy: Fleewinter Sidi Kaouki's only boutique hotel has 17 rooms: three master suites with separate lounge, fireplace, and beach-facing terrace, six sea-suites with private ocean-view terraces, and eight mountain rooms. The centrepiece of Kasbah d'Eau is the double-height atrium, which has views of the ocean and access to the terrace and the 18m x 5m heated infinity pool. There is a separate bar and restaurant, but guests can also choose to eat on their terrace or overlooking the pool. Indoor facilities include a library, games room with pool table, and an underground gym and spa featuring two treatment rooms, and a traditional hammam. Kasbah d'Eau's sister property, the Rebali Riads, is just a few minutes' walk away, and has a tennis court that is free for Kasbah d'Eau guests to use. The beach is the main attraction with surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing for those that like to be active on holiday, horseback, and camel rides to explore the area, and quadbike tours to get into the dunes and down the coast. It is also beloved by runners and walkers – the immediate beach is 1.5 miles (2.5km) in length but you go beyond and barely see a soul all day – even at the busiest times finding calm and solitude is never an issue. There are around a dozen cafes and restaurants in the village, but it is not over-developed, maintaining a rural feel with camels, donkeys and dogs wandering around or lying in the sun! For shopping or a livelier evening, the souks, and restaurants of Essaouira are a taxi-ride away. Kasbah d'Eau has been more than five years in development and is a collaboration between Alisdair Luxmoore, founder of UK tour operator Fleewinter and Mervyn Davies, Lord Davies of Abersoch. It is constructed using local labour and building materials and 100% Moroccan-staffed – they will gladly arrange visits to some of the traditional farms, to see the real Morocco and understand about the local traditions of cooking, agriculture and argan oil production. Double rooms cost from £70 per person for two sharing a room on a B&B basis. The easiest way to reach Kasbah d'Eau, is by flying to Essaouira, which is just a 15-minute taxi ride away, although it is simple to combine with a stay in Marrakech or the Atlas Mountains, around 3 hours away For further details or bookings, call Fleewinter on 020 7112 0019 or visit www.kasbahdeau.com.
