MIXI Achieves Capacity Increase with PacketLight Alien Wavelength Solution

TEL AVIV, Israel - Dec. 9, 2024 - PRLog -- MIXI's communications and gaming network gained a much-needed significant boost in network capacity when it implemented PacketLight's PL-4000M Muxponder.

Tokyo-based MIXI provides a range of communication services, serving three main segments: sports, lifestyle, and digital entertainment. To realize their mission of providing space and opportunity for truly meaningful connections, MIXI needed to expand the existing point-to-point network – linking data centers in Tokyo and the Inzai area – with a 300G connection.

The company wanted to transport 10GbE and 100GbE services over a distance of 60 to 70 kilometers, with low latency and Layer-1 encryption.

The new data center was planned to address issues in Tokyo, such as power supply shortages and space constraints. Inzai, which has a high power supply capacity, was selected as the location. For DCI construction, wavelength leasing was utilized instead of general dedicated lines, and PacketLight products were implemented to meet OSNR (Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio) requirements.

PacketLight products, with their compact 1U designs, achieve high-capacity transmission and meet the stringent OSNR requirements. Additionally, the Layer-1 encryption feature ensures high-level security. Furthermore, the user-friendly GUI and intuitive management features have significantly improved operational efficiency.

The implementation of PacketLight in this project addressed the challenge of long-distance transmission of approximately 70 km, and stable operation has been maintained since the installation was completed in March 2024. MIXI are planning to further strengthen monitoring by utilizing PacketLight's new features such as a delay measurement feature.
