Count Miklos Cseszneky Raises Concerns about Antisemitism with King of the Netherlands

AMSTERDAM - Dec. 9, 2024 - PRLog -- Last week, Count Miklos Cseszneky, Grand Master of the Order of Marcus Aurelius, had the opportunity to express his concerns to His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands about the alarming rise of antisemitism within Dutch society. This exchange followed the disturbing incidents of anti-Israeli violence that occurred in Amsterdam on November 7, 2024, in the aftermath of a football match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and AFC Ajax.

Count Cseszneky expressed his appreciation for the King's immediate condemnation of the violence and highlighted the Netherlands' long and celebrated history of tolerance, a tradition that has provided sanctuary to persecuted religious and ethnic minorities, including Sephardi Jews and Protestants. He underscored this history by sharing personal family experiences of finding refuge in the Netherlands. Furthermore, Count Miklos Cseszneky presented recommendations designed to safeguard the safety and security of all citizens, residents, and visitors, regardless of their religious or ethnic background.

The King acknowledged the concerns raised and, in accordance with established Dutch constitutional procedures, indicated that these recommendations would be transmitted to Prime Minister Dick Schoof for further consideration.
