This initiative by the Government of Canada is designed to make dental care more accessible and affordable, especially for those who may not have dental insurance or the means to pay for necessary treatments. The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federally funded program aimed at assisting Canadian households with an annual income of less than $90,000 and no private dental insurance. This coverage is provided through three tiers, based on adjusted family net income, to ensure that individuals and families across Vancouver and beyond have access to essential dental services.

Who Qualifies for CDCP?

To qualify for CDCP, you must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
2. Have filed a tax return for the previous year.
3. Not having dental insurance through a private or employer-provided plan.
4. Have a net family income of under $90,000 annually.

Seniors aged 65 or older are the first group eligible to apply. Starting in June 2024, children under 18 and individuals with disabilities can apply, with all other residents eligible by 2025.
