Dec. 10, 2024 - PRLog -- Haiko Dehnen, a passionate water sports enthusiast and innovator in the field of new water sports technologies, recently shared his experiences with two emerging trends in water sports: E-foiling and wingfoiling. Both sports offer unique experiences on the water, but differ in several important aspects.  Stretch explains the advantages and disadvantages of both activities and provides some personal insights.

E-foiling: a new dimension of surfing

E-foiling, also known as electric hydrofoiling, is a relatively new water sport in which the rider stands on a surfboard powered by an electric motor. The board lifts out of the water and glides on a hydrofoil, creating a floating sensation.

Advantages of e-foiling according to Haiko:

**Easy access**: Dehnen emphasizes that e-foiling offers a relatively easy introduction. "The learning curve is flatter as the motor does a lot of the work. You don't need much previous knowledge of windsurfing or kitesurfing to learn the basic techniques."
**Stability and control**: Thanks to the motor and the stability of the foil, you can have an exciting experience even when the water is calm. "You can ride almost anywhere, regardless of wind or wave conditions," explains Dehnen.
**Speed and adrenaline**: E-foils can reach high speeds, which provides an extra adrenaline rush. "The feeling of flying over the water at high speed is incomparable."

Wingfoiling is a combination of windsurfing and foiling, in which the rider uses a small, hand-held sail (the wing) to be propelled by the wind on a hydrofoil board.

**Advantages of wingfoiling according to Haiko Dehnen:**

**Natural power of the wind**: In contrast to the motor-driven e-foil, wingfoiling uses the natural energy of the wind. "There's nothing quite like being propelled by the wind. It's a very immediate and primal feeling."
**Mobility and flexibility**: The Wing is lightweight and compact, making it easy to transport and handle. "You can go anywhere the wind is favorable without having to rely on a motor."
