Where's Your Daughter?: Scenes from the Life of a Teenage Model by Jillian Rose Andersen

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Dec. 24, 2024 - PRLog -- Compelling Memoir of a Young Model Opens Explicit Doorways

Author Jillian Rose Andersen was a professional teenage model. She wrote this story of her life when she was in line for a scholarship at a top American university.

"At first, when compiling this diverse catalog of vignettes, what struck me was my own naivety. I was naïve about my mom's intentions, about my dad's conflicted loyalties, about the effect of the work I do on women, about the resentment and envy directed my way because of my privileges, and about the world in general; the way it functions politically and morally. I had no idea that I could be the object of such tempest that has come my way, or, in contrast, that I also had the ability to defuse tense situations which otherwise could or even would have resulted in serious violence. From the intimacy of learning how to love another person to their very soul, to the growing objectivity that human love is sadly rare and yet so needed in this our shared world, one could read all the pages below and feel that 'well, Jillian is only eighteen just now, this is after all a coming-of-age story above anything else it might be'. It is, yes, but it also isn't. Haltingly, it charts my self-understanding from ignorance to experience, and in this, it is at its most boring best. But jarringly, it narrates my encounters with certain aspects of the world that were for me completely unexpected and mostly unwelcome, from being another utter dupe online to coming close to being another victim of sexual assault far out in nature. And yet the most disturbing thing about these polar realities and their odd confluence – you hear about young women being virtually 'assaulted,' for instance; I can tell you, at least for me, that this is nothing compared to the real thing." – Jillian Andersen, San Francisco, August 2013

Says Lynn Eddy, VP of Acquisitions, Strategic Book Publishing:

"For any parent who has ever wondered what their teenage daughter is doing when away from home, this true story of a 17-year-old model provides a master class in worry. Yet the author has survived, and is now nearing 30 years old."
