Levine, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1962, is an acclaimed Los Angeles-based artist whose work transforms everyday objects into thought-provoking explorations of form, humor, and meaning. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (BFA, 1984) and the California Institute of the Arts (MFA, 1988), Levine's formal training and creative practice have been deeply shaped by his environment and a keen ability to see the extraordinary within the ordinary. Levine's artistic career spans several decades and includes a wide range of exhibitions across notable galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Cleveland, and beyond. His works, which frequently blur the boundaries between sculpture and painting, have been featured in both solo and group shows, including exhibitions that explore his innovative use of materials and unconventional approaches to traditional forms. In Levine's own words, his work often emphasizes "the most ordinary things we live with," inviting viewers to look more deeply at objects typically overlooked. Known for his minimalist yet striking use of color, form, and texture, Levine challenges audiences to reconsider the beauty, humor, and complexity hidden in the everyday. Currently residing in Venice, California, Levine continues to produce work that engages with the intersections of art, design, and cultural commentary.
