"A complicated sign painter" from Nashville TennesseeBy: Harry Underwood Represented by Lindsay Gallery harryunderwood@ "A complicated sign painter" OUTSIDER ART FAIR, NYC - Work by the Miami born artist Harry Underwood (b.1969) was discovered twenty years ago in a rural antique mall near Nashville and has become highly collected. He taught himself to paint following an incident in New Orleans where he was robbed and held at gunpoint in a car. Harry's art incorporates stenciled images and hand-written text using house paint and no.2 pencils on wood panels. He has a soft, muted palette that's nostalgic & retro, while his writing ranges from philosophical musings to political commentary. When asked to describe what he does Harry said: "I'm a complicated sign painter, trying to send the right message." His artwork has been shown by galleries in the United States, France and England. See his work (Thursday Feb 27 - Sunday Mar 2) at the 33rd annual Outsider Art Fair. Lindsay Gallery Booth 11. Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18th St, New York, NY 10011 Website: harryunderwood.com End
