Bennett Awards also integrated a copper-plated shell to allow a natural patina to develop, mirroring the cultural depth and authenticity of the sport played in inner-city courts worldwide. Moreover, the design reveals an apple core shape in the center when the award parts are separated, a nod to "The Big Apple."

Bennett's project manager, Karen McCrea, spoke about the pride and excitement the team felt upon the completion of the awards, highlighting the impressive craftsmanship and symbolic depth they achieved. Additional MVP awards, sponsored by FILA, were also crafted to complement the main awards, featuring distinctive elements like a cutout of the signature FILA "F" design.
