IRVINE, Calif. - Feb. 11, 2025 - PRLog -- Parentis Foundation, a leading nonprofit dedicated to youth literacy and intergenerational mentorship, proudly announces the launch of the Empowering Readers Literacy Leaders Giving Circle—a transformative initiative bringing together dedicated supporters committed to improving literacy rates among underserved children through the foundation's acclaimed Empowering Readers Orange County (EROC) program.

The Giving Circle will debut at an exclusive reception and dinner on March 27, 2025, at the University of California, Irvine, bringing together education advocates, philanthropists, corporate sponsors, and community leaders who believe in the power of mentorship and literacy to help children reach their full potential.

A Night of Inspiration, Giving & Impact

Attendees will experience:
  • Keynote Speaker: Dr. Carol Soloway, acclaimed author of The Surprise Circus, will share insights on how early childhood literacy shapes academic and lifelong success.
  • Live Entertainment: A mesmerizing performance by renowned magician and musician John Guastaferro.
  • Networking & Philanthropy: A cocktail reception, gourmet buffet, and exclusive opportunity to connect with changemakers dedicated to literacy, education, and social impact.

Why Literacy Mentorship Matters

"The Literacy Leaders Giving Circle isn't just about supporting a program—it's about investing in a movement," said Janice Frechette-Artinger, executive director of Parentis Foundation. "Through our intergenerational mentoring model, older adult volunteers don't just teach reading—they ignite confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning in children. At the same time, they gain a renewed sense of purpose and connection."

Empowering Young Readers Through Intergenerational Mentorship

The EROC program pairs struggling young readers with trained volunteer mentors aged 50+, providing one-on-one literacy support that improves reading skills, boosts academic confidence, and fosters lifelong success.

By becoming a founding member of the Literacy Leaders Giving Circle, attendees will directly support student literacy intervention, community engagement, and nonprofit education initiatives—ensuring that more children in Orange County receive the critical reading support they need to thrive.
