XI'AN, China - Feb. 14, 2025 - PRLog -- The EU's updated Global Warming Potential (GWP) regulation (EU 2024/537), effective January 1, 2025, mandates a maximum refrigerant GWP of 150 for all industrial equipment entering the EU. This policy accelerates the global shift toward carbon neutrality and challenges the environmental simulation industry to innovate. Previously common refrigerants like R404A (GWP=3922) and R23 (GWP=14,800) were banned by the EU in 2014 due to high environmental risks.

The introduction of new EU regulations has had a direct impact on test chamber manufacturers that rely on traditional refrigerants. While refrigerants like R449A (GWP=1396) remain legal, their GWP still exceeds the new limit.
