Compact controller with innovative cooling concept from Acceed

DUSSELDORF, Germany - Feb. 17, 2025 - PRLog -- Box PCs and embedded controllers often have to be installed in very small spaces or in tight control cabinets. The limited space is a challenge for heat dissipation. Inadequate temperature management can quickly lead to problems with performance and operational reliability. The new POC-700-FT controller, now available from German distributor Acceed, offers an efficient solution. The innovative design with the newly developed full-surface, flat heat sink maximises cooling efficiency via the housing surface and allows safe fanless operation in industrial environments.

The ultra-compact embedded controller POC-700 is optionally equipped with the latest Alder Lake processor i3-N305 from Intel or the Atom x7425E. Both options are optimised for AI inference tasks via Intel's OpenVINO.

With the new POC-700-FT model, a variant is now on the market that is characterised by a unique, flat heat sink design. The optimised cooling design extends the controller's range of applications in all industrial sectors. The conventional cooling fins have been replaced by a large heat sink mounted directly on the housing. The large heat conducting surface of the flat heat sink contributes to effective heat transfer to the outer surface and makes the POC-700-FT particularly suitable for installation in closed enclosures or confined spaces with reduced airflow. Enclosed housings, which protect against environmental contaminants such as dust, metal particles and liquids, are particularly in demand in the metal, wood, food and chemical industries, where they reduce the maintenance requirements of the built-in electronics and extend the service life of the devices.

The flat heat sink not only improves heat dissipation within the housing, but also reduces the overall size of the device by 20 %. This makes the POC-700-FT ideal for use in demanding but space-limited environments, especially where fanless yet efficient heat dissipation is required.
