Apotex Presents a $242,000 Check in an Annual Grant to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County in support of The Mahogany Project

LAUDERHILL, Fla. - Feb. 17, 2025 - PRLog -- Apotex Inc. ("Apotex"), the largest Canadian-based generic drug manufacturing company, has announced a significant grant through its Apotex Global Health Access Fund to Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County (HMHB/Broward). The $242,000 annual funding—totaling over $726,000 over three years—will support The Mahogany Project, a critical health educational resource to support high-risk pregnant women in underserved communities throughout Broward County.

The check presentation ceremony was held at the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Broward County office in the City of Lauderhill, Florida, underscoring Apotex's commitment to advancing maternal health and addressing health disparities.

Through The Mahogany Project mothers learn how to monitor and improve their health. They also learn how to care for and maintain the health of their baby through parenting education. The program is designed to enhance access to care, improve birth outcomes, and address the social determinants of health that disproportionately impact underserved communities.

The Apotex Global Health Access Fund was launched to tackle disparities in healthcare access and health literacy. In its inaugural year, the fund is allocating $1 million annually to maternal health programs across Canada, the United States, India, and Mexico. HMHB/Broward is the first U.S. recipient of the fund, following the Rexdale Community Health Centre in Toronto as the first grant awardee.
