Prom Attire Donations Needed at Simi and Yarrow YMCAs

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Feb. 18, 2025 - PRLog -- The Simi Valley Family YMCA, Yarrow Family YMCA and Soroptimist International of Simi Valley are hosting a Prom Closet at the two branches of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. Donations of clean, gently used or new formal wear for use by high schoolers attending prom are being accepted. Items can be dropped off at the Simi Valley Family YMCA (3200 Cochran St.) between now and March 21 and through April 11 at the Yarrow Family YMCA (31105 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village).

The items needed are dresses, suits, slacks, jackets, shoes, ties, purses and accessories. "The cost for formal clothes can be so high that students can't afford to attend their prom," says Dani Hutchison, Chief Development Officer at the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. "This is the second year that the YMCA and Soroptimists have joined together to ensure prom dreams come true for all high school students."

Students can shop for free on Sunday, March 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Simi Valley Family YMCA and on Sunday, April 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Yarrow Family YMCA.
