PacketLight and Fujitsu Optical Components Achieve 800G Transport

By: PacketLight

TEL AVIV, Israel - Feb. 27, 2025 - PRLog -- PacketLight Networks announced today that PacketLight and Fujitsu Optical Components have succeeded in the transport of a mix of 100GbE and 400GbE data services over 800G wavelength, using PacketLight's PL-8000M 2x800G Muxponder with Fujitsu Optical Components' 800G CFP2-DCO pluggable module.

The PL-8000M is the first device to launch in PacketLight's 800G product family, and is ideal for carrier infrastructure, DCI connectivity, cloud providers, high end enterprises, research/education campuses, and high bandwidth AI connectivity infrastructure.

The CFP2-DCO module was the perfect choice for this achievement, due to its high performance, reliability, and compatibility with PacketLight's Layer-1 encryption solution - ensuring secure transport of encrypted 100/400/800GbE services.

PacketLight will formally introduce and conduct a live demo of the PL-8000M Muxponder at the 2025 OFC Conference in April (booth 3232).

Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight: "This milestone highlights the incredible work of the teams at PacketLight and Fujitsu Optical Components, delivering the first device in our 800G product family. It's always exciting to see innovation take shape, and this achievement sets a new standard for our DWDM high-capacity transport solutions."

Yukiharu Fuse, Corporate Officer, Fujitsu Optical Components: "We are delighted to collaborate with PacketLight on this significant achievement. Our proprietary Thin-film LN (LiNbO3) technology combined with advanced on-board optics, resulted in the superior performance of the 800G CFP2-DCO module, and delivering high transmission capacity and low power consumption. Fujitsu Optical Components is committed to providing cutting-edge optical component solutions and we look forward to further collaboration with PacketLight in shaping the future of optical networking."

With a total capacity of 1.6 terabits in a 1U chassis, the PL-800M is designed as a modular, cost-effective solution for rolling out 400GbE and 100GbE services or increasing network capacity. Like other PacketLight equipment, it is ideal for building pay-as-you-grow architecture.
